Loren was born into a musical family. His three older brothers all played piano. His mother was a piano player and cellist. With so much musical influence around him, it was no surprise that he sat down at the piano bench at the age of three and started picking out songs by ear. It was shortly after that that he was discovered to have pitch recognition, more commonly referred to as “perfect pitch,” or the ability to recognize notes and pitches without a reference. By age 5 he was taking piano lessons. At age 6 he started composing his first pieces for piano. By 7 years old, he had already notated on manuscript his first “formal” piece, “Spanish Concerto,” having written the notes directly from his head to the paper. The passion for music and composing had been ignited. By age twelve he was performing locally at many events and giving piano concerts, combining popular, classical and original pieces. By age 14 he placed in a piano competition in Pittsburgh, PA. During this time he was studying classical piano under Verginia Stickle. At age 15 he was commissioned to write the soundtrack for a 20-minute student film, and this came to be the first piece he composed for film. At 16 years of age, he began tuning the grand piano he learned to play on, and that was the humble beginning of what is today DiGiorgi Piano Service, although Loren did not know that at the time. Upon graduation from high school, he briefly attended Dana School of Music and Berklee College of Music. In 1980, his first studio session resulted in the single “Every Day,” which was released on BRS Records and received a decent amount of local radio play as well as requests to perform it live at local radio charity events. Between 1984 and the present, Loren has played the cocktail piano circuit in clubs , restaurants and country clubs in Youngstown, Pittsburgh, Cranberry, Warren OH, and Niles, OH. Also in 1984 he formally founded DiGiorgi Piano Service, a piano tuning and technical service that easily serves a 75-mile radius. In 1998, his debut CD “Dream” was self-produced and released on his label Morningtide Records.
During the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Loren wrote two more soundtracks that were used on nationally-released exercise DVD’s. April of 2007 saw the release of his next CD,” A Winter’s Journey.” Both Dream and A Winter’s Journey are available at many online retailers as well as at iTunes.
A new CD, "Life Colors," is slated for release in September 2009.
